my eyes.
It's always at times like these when I can't shut out my emotions, try to smile and tell myself everything's alright. But I know I'm almost there..
I've been working so hard during the day and exercising like an animal after work. All those controversies and politics in the office are seriously driving me nuts. Humans can be really such selfish creatures sometimes. Sighs. C'mon guys, let's just stop all the backstabbing and make the office a pleasant environment to work in. Not too difficult to achieve, aint' it?
I made a visit to mummy's distant relative, Uncle David's eyewear shop for an eye check. When asked how was she related to him, my mother said "he's my cousin mother's daughter (given away) son-in-law, but not really my cousin because I call his mother auntie..[trails away] complicated ahaha". How cute she can be sometimes. =) And one thing I love about visiting Uncle David's is the fact that he speaks hakka to us - felt so at home. Another thing which really impressed me was that he is actually the chairperson for the national association of contact lenses or something like that. Like wow. And he was the one checking my eyes for that afternoon. I felt so like a VIP. HAHAH. Anyway, in the midst of checking my eyes, he gasped and told me that my eye power dropped by about 200 degrees and it was kinda rare to find. (I was half hoping that he'll tell me I need my glasses no more)
While checking my corneas,
Uncle David: You have pretty eyes. Many people are dying to get eyes like yours.
Me: WHY?!
Uncle David: Your eyes are light brown in colour if you haven't noticed. This means there is no need for you to buy coloured contacts in the future unless you want something other than brown of course.
Me: Oh...
I left the shop feeling kinda light-hearted. What Uncle David failed to realise was that he had just increased a little self confidence of a low self-esteemed girl.
